Day 1: Arrival & Acclimatization in Spiti
Arrive in the scenic village of Mane Yogma after a 10-12 hour drive from Shimla. Settle into your comfortable homestay, acclimatize to the high altitude, and prepare for the exciting days ahead.Day 2: Foundations & Warm-Up (WI2)
Begin your journey with a warm-up session on a nearby crag. Learn and practice essential ice climbing techniques including cramponing, ice screw driving, V-thread making, rappelling, and anchor building in a controlled, beginner-friendly environment.Day 3: Technique Building on “Mane Madness” (WI3)
Advance to the popular “Mane Madness” route. Spend the day building confidence on steeper ice, focusing on tool placement, footwork, and efficient movement. Learn the basics of top-rope belaying and secure screw placement.Day 4: Skill Consolidation on “Mane Madness” (WI3)
Return to “Mane Madness” to refine your technique. This session focuses on perfecting your tool swing, footwork precision, and building V-threads and anchors, solidifying your skills for more challenging terrain.Day 5: Stepping Up to “Frozen Diesel” (WI4)
Test your growing skills on the longer, more physical “Frozen Diesel” route. This day is designed to build endurance and confidence on sustained vertical sections, applying the techniques learned in previous days.Day 6: The Advanced Challenge – “White Lotus” (WI5)
Take on the pinnacle challenge of the course on the “White Lotus” route. This demanding climb features long, sustained vertical ice. Practice mock leading, advanced rappelling techniques, and anchor cleaning under close supervision.Day 7: Departure from Spiti
After a memorable week, depart from Mane Village for the return drive to Shimla, arriving by evening.Day 8: Flex Day (Buffer)
A strategic buffer day for flexibility. Depending on the group’s energy, weather conditions, and interest, this day can be used for extra climbs, exploring nearby Spiti villages, or additional rest.

Essential Information for Participants

Fitness & Eligibility: Participants should have a good level of physical fitness. The course is suitable for ages 6 to 60 and a weight range of 20 to 120 kg. Prior trekking or basic climbing experience is beneficial but not mandatory for beginners.

Packing List: You must bring appropriate personal clothing for extreme cold:

Clothing: Moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers (fleece/down), waterproof and insulated outer jacket and pants.
