Day 1
After an early morning breakfast, we will head out to Spiti Valley. After reaching Manali, you will be provided with a vehicle, and the driver will take you on the tour you have chosen. As you are driven across the region, you can soak in the atmosphere and observe the landscape. You will get to see the Kunzum Pass. There are several interesting sights of the various vegetation that grows in the region. You will reach Mane village in the evening, and accommodation will be provided there.
Day 2
Arrival, reception, paperwork, distribution of equipment and gears, and instructions about the trek. Information about Mane village, flora and fauna, surrounding villages, nearby peaks, and monasteries. Lecture on tent pitching and camping hygiene. Acclimatization walk to Lhar ground. After evening tea, a briefing for the next day.
Day 3
The trek will start after breakfast. Put on sunglasses, fill your water bottle, and start climbing toward Yang-tso Lake. It’s a 2.5-hour hike, during which you will see and explore panoramic views of Spiti Valley, Gang Chumik meditation point, and will see 13 villages from a single point. After having lunch at the lake, move to the Dogsa campsite (3850m). Pitch a tent and rest. Dogsa is pasture land or a nomadic area; the Mane Dogsa is the only dogsa system still running in Spiti Valley. It’s a shelter for nomads from Mane villages for three months (June 17th–August 17th, fixed every year). Knots learning in the evening, if interested.
Day 4
River crossing and Waterfall.
After breakfast, pack some extra clothes for river crossing. We will move to Chu-Dolsa Waterfall (a small waterfall coming out of rocks; water flows for six months and stops in winter)—a wonder of nature. On the way back, we will demonstrate and practice techniques of river crossing. Every person will be given a chance to practice river crossing with all safety gear attached. This helps improve techniques and boost confidence for future treks and river crossings. Return to Dogsa campsite. Knots learning if interested.
Day 5
Trek to Mane-tso (high spring water and pasture point above Dogsa). Day five is going to be a tough day. It will test your stamina, strength, and teamwork. The trek ends at Mane-tso, and after lunch, you will return to the Dogsa campsite. On this day, you will be at an altitude of 4500m, and if you are lucky, you may see yaks, blue sheep, Tibetan red fox, Himalayan rabbits, Himalayan wolf, and ibex. You will also be introduced to high-altitude Himalayan herbs.
Day 6
Back to Mane village after breakfast. While returning, you will explore Ong-Dang Gorge (a very deep gorge formed by the continuous flow of water over rock). Return of equipment, group photos, fun games, bonfire, and the course ends.
Day 7
After an early breakfast, proceed towards Manali. Enjoy the views on the way. You can also stop at the famous Chicham Bridge (Asia’s highest suspension bridge), Ladarcha ground, Kunzum Pass, and Solang Valley. Evening drop at Manali Volvo Stand or Hotel. Thank you for choosing us.
